SERVICES FOR DISABILITY MANAGEMENT
Behavioural Activation Program

The Behavioural Activation (BA) Program is an evidence-based brief treatment for depression and other mental health concerns, based on behavioural theory, which suggests that the persistence of depression symptoms is contributed to by a lack of engagement in activities that are meaningful and rewarding to the individual. Provided by a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC), our BA program provides support to individuals that is compassionate, non-judgmental and involves customized planning and support, tailored to meet each individual's needs and goals.

Our BA program uses a structured approach of up to 12 sessions that focuses on: empowerment and education, taking actionable steps to boost mood and improve overall well-being by creating attainable goals, gradually reintroducing scheduled participation in meaningful and adaptive activities/routines, decreasing avoidance and/or unhelpful behaviours to minimize symptoms of depression, skill building and problem solving of barriers and accountability through monitoring of progress.

Through BA, we aim to reduce symptoms related to mental health, injury or illness by encouraging increased engagement and by doing so, we help clients build confidence, develop resilience, and improve their ability to manage their health and functional capacities, by restoring a sense of purpose, satisfaction and accomplishment. The ultimate goal of our BA Program is to increase individual's capacity to assist in preparing clients for a successful and sustainable return to work or other personal pursuits that may have been affected by their condition.
